Coming up! Art&&Code: Transmissions

Art&&Code is the STUDIO’s long-running event series focused on democratizing emerging technologies through creative exploration and public engagement. Over its six previous editions, the series has explored a diverse range of themes, including real-time visuals, live coding, and nightlife (2023); digital tools + crafty approaches (2021); new and independent visions for virtual, augmented, and mixed realities (2016); artistic, technical, tactical, and cultural potentials of low-cost 3D scanning devices (2011); artistic and tactical approaches to mobile, networked, and locative media (November 2009); and programming environments for artists, young people, and the rest of us (March 2009). The 2023 edition drew over 300 participants and, with support from NEA funding, provided free workshops, improved accessibility, and helped spark a growing regional interest in live visuals and media performance. Building on this momentum, Art&&Code 2026 will spotlight Transmission Arts, an interdisciplinary genre centered on radio frequency transmission and reception as artistic media. This edition will feature artists working with publicly accessible broadcast signals in live performance, installation, and interactive systems.
